HUY G NGUYEN
Huy Nguyen is a PhD candidate at the University of Technology Sydney. He previously a visiting student at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and graduated with Honors with a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Technology Sydney. Huy’s expertise includes modeling time-series data, developing prediction models, managing complex datasets, and applying AI to solve healthcare challenges. As a data scientist and AI engineer for the Vietnam Osteoporosis Study, Huy contributed to osteoporosis management and helped establish the Saigon Medical Research Centre. He has also worked on national surveys in Vietnam to investigate patient satisfaction and collaborated with the Dubbo Osteoporosis Epidemiology Study to better understand fractures. His recent projects involve using AI to diagnose asymptomatic vertebral fractures, find optimal paths for hip surgery, quantify bone mineral density, and assess bone quality from plain X-rays. Huy received the Young Investigator Award from ASBMR and the Best Presentation Award from SydneyMSK in 2023 for developing an AI to predict areal bone mineral density. He was also the first runner-up for the Young Investigator Award at ANZBMS in 2021 for developing an AI that identifies asymptomatic vertebral fractures.
