Darryl Russell
Professor Darryl Russell is a cell biologist and molecular endocrinologist who heads the Ovarian Cell Biology Group in the Robinson Research Institute. His training in endocrinology and ovarian biology began, with Professor Jock Findlay as PhD advisor at Prince Henry’s Institute of Medical Research and subsequent PostDoc with Professor JoAnne Richards at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston TX. He then relocated To the University of Adelaide where he now leads an independent research team. His recent work identifies molecular control of ovarian and oocyte development, including steroid hormone actions, TGFb superfamily members, inhibin, activin and GDF9/BMP15, and integrated local paracrine and structural signals from the ovarian environment.
