Ashley S Meakin

Ashley is an early career researcher in the Early Origins of Adult Health Research Group. His research focuses on two main areas: 1) understanding how pregnancy complications impact the metabolism of drugs in the maternal, placental, and fetal compartments; 2) examining how pregnancy complications including growth restriction and maternal asthma impact steroid hormone signalling in the placenta and what this means for the development of metaoblic diseases later in life. Through his research, Ashley hopes to improve the efficacy and safety of drugs commonly used during pregnancy, and develop novel diagnostics and interventions to ensure that every baby gets the most out of life.
