Matti L Gild

Associate Professor Matti Gild is a Staff Specialist in Endocrinology at Royal North Shore Hospital and a Clinical Academic at the University of Sydney. She completed her PhD in thyroid cancer genetics, including a research fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. A/Prof Gild currently chairs the Thyroid Cancer Research Group, a multidisciplinary team dedicated to translational research that spans the full spectrum of thyroid cancer, from early diagnosis to advanced disease management. Her clinical research focuses on treatment de-escalation and personalising care to improve long-term outcomes for thyroid cancer patients. She has received numerous competitive grants and maintains an active basic science program at the Kolling Institute, where she investigates the genetic drivers of thyroid cancer. In recognition of her contributions, she was appointed a member of the International Thyroid Oncology Group in 2025 and serves as the Endocrine Society of Australia’s representative to the Asia and Oceanic Thyroid Association.
