Tu'uhevaha Kaitu'u-Lino

A/Prof Tu’uhevaha Kaitu’u-Lino is head of the Diagnostics Discovery and Reverse Translation in Pregnancy group at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Mercy Hospital for Women, University of Melbourne. She was awarded her PhD in 2008. A/Prof Kaitu’u-Lino leads a team of clinicians and scientists passionate about improving the health outcomes for women and their babies. She has demonstrated a substantial and sustained contribution to research within the field of Placentology, Major Pregnancy Complications and Translational Obstetrics and has an absolute focus on clinical translation. A/Prof Kaitu’u-Lino’s current focus is on developing new diagnostics for the pregnancy complications preeclapmsia and fetal growth restriction, as well as providing insight into the pathogenesis of these diseases. Dr Kaitu’u-Lino’s has an outstanding publication record, and impressive list of funding successes. Her research has also been recognised through a number of prestigious awards including the SRB Robinson Research Institute and Newcastle Emerging Leader Award, and as Victorian Tall Poppy of the Year. As a mother of 4, Dr Kaitu’u-Lino is also passionate about promoting the possibilities of a successful career and family life and is an advocate for women in science.
